Typically, this blog aims to inform guests and fellow travelers of things to do, see, and eat around the Destin area. However, today’s post will be a bit different as we give you a behind-the-scenes look at Loma Homes’ latest home purchase in Destin! We quickly fell in love with this house and how close it is to the white, sugar sand beaches of the Gulf of Mexico. As you can see, it’s a fixer upper, but just imagine the potential!

What Loma Homes Is All About

As you may or may not know, Loma Homes specializes in themed vacation rentals in Orlando and Destin, FL. Our Orlando homes tend to be more on the #Extremebnb side with homes like Twelve Parsecs, Wizard’s Way, and our latest creation: Raptor Retreat. On the other hand, our Destin vacation rentals, like Sea Renity are typically more subtle with traditional beach themes. Well, with our latest purchase in Destin, we decided that we wanted a mixture of the two to create a themed, beachy-vibes vacation rental!

Picking a Theme

It all started with the street name. The 3-bedroom, 3-bath house that we bought sits on Hollywood Street. After learning of the location and seeing the house, our project manager, Heidi, immediately started visualizing possible colors, patterns, and textures that we could use to make this house look and feel like….The Beverly Hills Hotel!

If you’re not familiar with what The Beverly Hills Hotel is or what it looks like, refer to the photos below. The soft pinks, palm leaves, and subtle touches of vintage gold will make our guests feel like they are living the Beverly Hills life all the way on the east coast! What do you think of the theme? Too much or just enough to make the vacation rental unique? We’d love to hear your thoughts in the comments!

The Construction Process: Adding Rooms

Another important task we’ve been working on with this house is the construction and renovation itself. In order for us to accommodate large families, we prefer to have at least 6 bedrooms in each of our rentals. Did you notice how this house only has 3? Well, our team has been hard at work with local contractors to figure out a way to adjust the floor plan to make room for 3 more bedrooms! Here is the first draft of our floor plan:
