If you are looking for a destination with incredible beaches that are continually voted among the top in the country, Destin Florida is the place for you! The expansive waters provide endless opportunities for fun in the sun. Destin has plenty of things to do to keep both the beach-lovers and land-lovers entertained. Here is a sample 4-day Destin travel itinerary including some of the best activities that the Emerald Coast has to offer:
Day 1 – Head to the Beach
A visit to Destin would not be complete without a visit to its world-renowned beaches. Spend the day frolicking in the crystal-clear emerald green water or laying on the sugar white sand. After a day in the sun, you are bound to be hungry, so hit up one of the many local restaurants in the area for some delicious dinner. Some of our favorites include Harbor Docks and Boshamps on the Destin Harbor for fresh, local seafood. If you have little kids to entertain in your group, consider going to Fudpucker’s Beachside Bar & Grill (located across the street from Henderson Beach State Park) for great food and live alligators!
Day 2 – Day on the Water
Boating in Destin is a must for the perfect travel itinerary. Visitors can choose from all manner of recreational watercraft, including fishing boats, pontoon boats, power boats, and sailboats, to explore the Emerald Coast. You will also want to consider renting a charter boat or taking the Crab Island Shuttle Boat to check out Crab Island. For more details about Crab Island, an underwater sandbar offering a unique mixture of activities in a beautiful tropical setting, check out our Crab Island blog post here.
Day 3 – Shopping Spree
After a few days outside, you may need a little break from the sun and what better way to spend the day than to hit up the local shops. Destin has a large variety of local boutiques, an expansive outdoor retail shopping mall, and a giant outlet center at Silver Sands Outlets. Stock up on souvenirs to always remember your epic vacation! After shopping, grab dinner from one of the many restaurants around town. Sunset views on the Harbor are breathtaking sights to see and if you’re vacationing between Memorial Day and Labor Day, make sure to check out the air shows featuring vintage WWII airplanes and spectacular fireworks that happen every Thursday.
Day 4 – Go Fishing!
A trip to “The World’s Luckiest Fishing Village” would not feel right without a fishing trip! Destin Florida has quick access to the 100-fathom curve in the Gulf of Mexico. Where fishermen in most coastal towns must travel 30 or more miles offshore to deep sea fish, Destin fisherman can fish for species like red snapper, grouper, amberjack, and triggerfish all within just a few miles of the beach. And when you return from your day on the water, take your catches to one of the local restaurants along the Harbor and they will cook it for you!
This 4-day travel itinerary for Destin Florida should provide plenty of ideas for your upcoming vacation on the Emerald Coast! You can also take these ideas and rearrange them in a schedule that works best for you and your friends or family. All that matters is that you enjoy your vacation and get to experience the unique opportunities that Destin has to offer!
